Back to School

It is almost back to school time around here so I thought I would make a few back to school cards for some hard working teachers. I have worked for a local elementary school district for over 25 years and know how exciting yet difficult the start of a new school year can be. This year is going to be especially difficult since our schools will have to being with distance learning. Teachers truly miss their students so I want to bring them some joy at the start of this unusual school year.

For this week’s video, I made a couple of back to school cards using some patterned paper from Michael’s. The paper looks like alcohol ink blending and since I am not very good at that (yet) I chose this paper as my background. I used Darcie’s “Take Note,” “All Write” and “Best Teacher” stamp sets. I stamped out all the main images and cut them out using my Brother Scan N Cut. The Scan N Cut is amazing, especially when I do not have coordinating dies! Once I decided which images I would use on my card, I colored them using my Copic markers. I then attached the colored images to the card base and added some sparkle with Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen. I added a few Doodlebug enamel dots and gave them some sparkle as well. I then layered my panel onto some black card stock to give it a thin border. Now that my panel was complete and added it to a card base. This was a fairly quick and easy card to make. I will be making several more to send to some of the many dedicated teachers I know.

I hope you are able to visit my YouTube Channel and maybe even subscribe. Thanks for spending some of your time with me. Have a fun, safe and creative day!!

I am the mother of four, grandmother of ten and wife to my wonderful husband of almost 40 years. I am finally retired and have chosen to focus my extra time on papercrafting. I am fortunate to be a part of several design teams and love working with each of them. I am fortunate to have a very supportive family and am sure they will continue to support me during this endeavor. Thank you for joining me on this new and exciting venture.
