Warm Hugs

I’m continuing to work on Christmas cards this week. I decided to make a few cards using one background stamp and some Distress Oxide inks and sprays.

I used Simon Says Stamp’s “Modern Poinsettia” background stamp and VersaFine Claire Nocturne ink on Bristol Smooth Watercolor paper as well as on some Recollections white card stock. Once I had the images stamped, I used Recollections Charcoal embossing powder on the watercolor paper. Now that my image was embossed and grabbed some Distress Oxide Sprays (Wilted Violet and Mermaid Lagoon) and randomly sprayed them on the card panel. I didn’t want the overspray of Distress Oxide ink to go to waste, so I sprayed some water on my work surface, pulled in one of the other stamped card panels and smooshed the card panel into the ink. I then used Distress Oxide Inks (Wilted Violet and Mermaid Lagoon) to blend colors onto my third card panel.

While my card panels were drying, I die cut the sentiment using the Simon Says Stamp “Warm Hugs” die. I used some Recollections shimmer blue cards stock and some Recollections black card stock for the die cut sentiments. Once my panels were dry it was time assemble the cards. I cut down the ink blended panel and used a black card stock mat to help make the color pop. I pulled in one of the die cut sentiments and a strip of black card stock and added them to the panel. I then added some sequins from my stash to add a little bit of sparkle to the card. Card #1 is now complete.

For the next card, I used the ink smooshed card panel and cut it down. I added a sentiment from the Scrapbook.com “Big and Bold Holidays” stamp set and stamped it using VersaFine Claire Nocturne Ink. I then used some fun foam on the back of the panel and added it to a black mat. Card #2 is now complete.

For the third card, I used the ink sprayed panel and cut it down as well. I added two narrow strips of black card stock and the die cut sentiment to this panel. I also matted this panel with some black card stock. Card #3 is now complete.

I am going to continue making cards throughout the month of November to add to my Christmas Card Donation. Thank you for supporting me and helping me grow as I practice being creative!
